Sydney S. Bergson (1905 - Jan 24, 1980) was born in England. He came to the United States as a child, growing up in Brooklyn. N.Y. He held a degree in Law, but was a hotelier by profession. He created mental effects and held several offices in the IBM including President from 1967-1968.

Syd was a regular contributor for THE LINKING RING starting in October 1971 with a column called "Merely Mental," containing comments on matter concerned with mentalism.

He received the Fleming Award twice.

The I.B.M Ring 45 in Miami, Florida is now known as the Syd Bergson Ring.
