what makes you sure that he was born in the USA? You refer to Wikipedia but there they say William Holden Maxwell (professionally known as Max Holden; August 20, 1884 – July 3, 1949) was a Scottish-born American vaudeville performance artist and magician. --Cortini (talk) 04:37, 20 August 2017 (EDT)

The great majority of pages in internet write Max Holden was born in Glasgow, Scotland (most texts are copied from Wikipedia) and also some contributions found in the Alexander Archive: The Bat, Issue 68, August 1949 provided a reprint of Holden’s obituary published in the “New York Herald Tribune”, The Conjuror’s Magazine, Vol. 5, No. 6, August 1949, Tops Magazine, Vol. 14, No. 8, August 1949 for example.

Max Holden was born August 20, 1884 of Scottish parents. In The Sphinx, Vol. 31, No. 5, July 1932, “Who’s Who in Magic“, page 205, he (himself) informs he was born in Boston, Massachusetts.

Articles in The Sphinx inform: “Part of his youth was spent in New England and part in Glasgow as he accompanied his parents, back and forth across the big pond. He became interested in magic when he attended a magic show in Glasgow, Scotland. The magician called him upon the platform to assist with the tricks. He recalls most clearly that the trick was the parasol and handkerchief trick, done with a changing canister.”

Max Holden wrote regularly in The Sphinx, starting in 1909 (so Sphinx should be in a position to give correct information). It was 1915 when he came finally back to Boston (age 31).
