Torn Corner receipt is the idea of tearing the corner off something (a card, paper money) to give to the spectator in order to "prove" that what is going to happen to the rest of the item is later the same. For example, a corner is torn off a card and given out. The card then vanishes and ends up in a lemon. The card is pulled out and shown to match the corner.

Often used with a Billet Switch.

You tear the corner off a blank postcard and hand it to someone before placing the rest of the card in a hat with a pencil. The spectator then takes the postcard out of the hat to see that something is now written on the card and the still corner matches as "proof" that the card is the same one put in.
