Marshall Montgomery (c.1887-1942) was a popular ventriloquist who performed all over the world. He played at the Hippodrome in May, 1918.
Biography
Montgomery was able to eat, drink, and whistle with a handkerchief stuffed into his mouth.
He headlined in vaudeville for many years and his last performance was at The Diamond Horseshoe in New York.
In the 1920s he he left the stage for business, but returned to ventriloquism in the 1930s and continued until his death.[1]
Montgomery had many friends in magic. Guy Jarrett had built him a free walking figure and when he lived in the St. George Hotel in Brooklyn, New York, Al Baker was his consultant [2]
The Ring No. 2 of the International Brotherhood of Ventriloquists was named in his honor in Chicago.
