R. G. Herrmann was a professional magician in the early 1900s performing magic, illusions, mind reading, ventriloquism, shadowgraphs, hypnotism, handcuffs and escapes.[2]
After retiring from magic art he worked briefly with the Secret Service afterward becoming Deputy clerk of courts of Auglaize county Ohio. He also devoted time as a safe expert, opening and repairing safes.
He was very active in the IBM, which he was president of the IBM Ring No. 3 in Ohio and served as National Secretary in 1932.
Here is a description of his thirty minute act which was published in N.C.A. Digest (May 1921):
- Opened with Newspaper to silk flag which then changed into a six foot flag.
- Artists Dream in which he appears from painting
- Hat production, aerial treasury and egg bag
- A metamorphosis type trick using a bag with two assistants
- Silk productions
- Chinese Linking Rings
- A masked and robed assistant fires a pistol at a screen in which he was behind. When screen is removed, he has vanished but appears as the robed person that fired the shot.
- Multiplying billiard balls followed by Wine and Water
- Closed with a comedy spirit cabinet.
