Society of Irish Magicians (S.I.M.) was founded in 1939 by Edward "Ned" Thorpe (Setanta), Paddy Woods, Hubert Lambert and John Reddin in Dublin, Ireland.
Thorpe was elected the first President and then elected Chair of the Society of Irish Magicians again in 1966.[1][2]
The hosted the first Ireland Magician's convention in the early 1940's and the NAMS convention at the end of that decade. An off shoot of the successful all Ireland conventions was the formation of the International Brotherhood of Magicians (I.B.M.) Irish Ring in 1949.
