R. Temple Greystoke was Ray Price, a professional illusionist on both the Lyceum and Chautauqua circuit.
Inspired after seeing Eugene Laurant in 1908, he started his professional career in magic with a show at Glencoe, Kentucky in 1921. Starting out using the stage name "Rah-Mona", he did children's shows and a dog act.[1] In late 1929, he changed his stage name to Greystoke due to the popularity of a song, Ramona which referred to a girl.
By 1930, Greystoke also developed a Spook Show called "Ali Baba's Midnight Ghost Show". By 1934, it became so popular he was doing spook shows exclusively.
Greystoke performed at the IBM convention in Columbus, Ohio, in 1931.
In 1941, he returned to a straight magic show, which he performed until ill health forced him to retire in 1955. He moved to Alabama to live with his brother. Greystroke would suffered from Parkinson's disease. [2]
He was a member, for a time, of the SAM Assembly No. 11 in Cincinnati, Ohio.[3]
