Bob Steiner (?-2013), an accountant by profession, was National President of the S.A.M. in 1988-1989 has passed away today in California. He was a member of the S.A.M. 112 in Concord.[1]

Biography

He was a Fellow of The Committee for Skeptical Inquiry, and a founder of the Bay Area Skeptics. In 1986, Steiner assisted James Randi in the exposure of the faith healer Peter Popoff.[2]

In his mentalist act, Steiner would pretend he was an astrologer, a tarot card reader, a palm reader, or a psychic. After his performance, he would reveal that he is not really psychic but used trickery and deceit to make it look as if he has paranormal powers.[3]

Steiner had dementia during the last years of his life which he was unable to recognize his friends. He was inducted into the SAM Hall of Fame shortly before his death,
