William "Bill" Warfield (c.1915-?), a charter member of the S.A.M. Assembly No.8 in St. Louis, helped produce The American Mystery Show, one of the first big magic shows in the St. Louis area.
Biography
Warfield started performing magic at the age of nine and would became a close friend of Joe Scott. Together they produced one of the first big magic shows in the St. Louis area called The American Mystery Show. When the depression hit and the show closed, Warfield became an insurance salesman, but continued to perform at schools, night clubs and fairs.
During World War II, Warfield worked as a guard at the small arms plant and afterwards went back to working night clubs and fairs. For some time he went all over the country with the International Harvester shows playing small farming communities from September until April .[1]
