Dr. Cecil E. Nixon (c.1874-1962), a dentist by profession, was a builder of automatons in San Fransisco.

Biography

Nixon came to United States as a child and his father died when he was 19. He went to work as an apprentice in the drafting room of the Pacific Rolling Mills and Shipyards. At an early age showed ability of mechanical construction.

Automaton he created include "Isis", "Galatea," and "Pythophone."[1]

He filled his San Francisco mansion, "The House of a Thousand Mysteries," with collectibles and shut out the outside world. During the heyday of his life in the 1920s dignitaries including Harry Houdini, would visit to see his mechanical wonders.
