Tom Dethlefsen was the owner of the Golden Gate Magic Company in San Francisco.

He was Secretary to the S.A.M. for many years and was a member of the I.B.M. (member no. 7903), Oakland Magic Circle and San Jose Mystic 27. He organized the I.B.M. Ring No. 38.[1]

He retired after a severe coronary in the late 1960s[2], although he retained his membership in the Magic Dealers Association. [3] He was also a founding member of the Fellowship of Christian Magicians of Northern California, which later became the national Fellowship of Christian Magicians.
