Frances Ireland was born Frances Ahrens.

Around 1931 she started working at Ireland's Magic Company in Chicago and eventually married the owner Laurie Ireland.

Frances became an accomplished magicienne, specializing in children's shows.

In 1938 she founded Magigals, an organization for female magicians. She was the first editor of its magazine and also wrote regularly for several other magic magazines.

Frances continued to run the company after the death of Laurie in 1954. In 1955, she married magician, Jay Marshall.

In 1963, the Ireland Magic Co. was incorporated. The Marshall's renamed the company Magic, Inc.
