Dual Reality is the term for a magic ploy in which spectators assume that everybody witnessing the same performance are witnessing the same effect, but in actuality different people are finding different meanings of certain deceptive words in the conversation.
This concept has been used by many magicians including Max Maven, David Hoy and Hofzinser. Kenton Knepper seems to have popularized the term in the 1990s.
