Rajah Raboid (1896-1962) was a premier vaudeville mentalist known in several venues including radio mentalism and crystal gazing.
Biography
He started out performing in carnivals as a magician, calling himself "Ray Boyd", before switching to mentalism.
Raboid would broadcast on Mexican radio to avoid legal problems that might result from his question-and-answer show. In New York City, he performed to sold-out houses in theaters and sold books, and offered readings. He became extremely wealthy and owned a mansion in Miami Beach, Florida.[1]
In the late 1930s, he performed a sawing in half illusion with Johnny Eck and his twin brother.[2]
He has been credited as being the first man to fly a plane while blindfolded and performed his knife throwing act on the television show You Asked For It.
His first wife Nellie performed under the stage name "Raynell, the Miracle Girl."[3]
