Biography
Born Albert Winckler (aka Winkler, [pronounced VINK-ler]), he toured the Far East (India, Japan, China) around 1902 with Harmston’s Circus and Menagerie as Venturini. When finished with engagement, Venturini returned to Europe to perform in minor theaters.
Around 1905 Venturini was performing his illusion "So-Da", which was also being called "Dida" and "Creation" by other magicians.[1] Will Goldston writes in The Magician Monthly (December 1907):
- Venturini’s latest illusion entitled "So-Da" is proving a great success. Two ladies (we are given to understand) are produced from nothing. A long tank being partly filled with water, Venturini covers it momentarily with a cloth, on the withdrawal of which a young lady is seen reclining in the water. On emerging she presents herself, with her soaked clothing, before the astonished audience. Then the process is gone through again, and a second form appears under similar circumstances.[2]
Some credit him with inventing the Aga Levitation. He registered the name in 1910 and sold the "exclusive rights" to Goldston of Gamages, Ltd.
Venturini disappeared from the magic scene in 1911.
