Cecil Hamley, was a magician, inventor, publisher and dealer.
Biography
An accomplished magician, Hamley was also the owner of Hamley's Magical Saloons, High Holborn, and of the Magical Palace of Wonders (late Joseph Bland's), New Oxford street. He was also one of the initial committee members of The Magic Circle and for a time co-edited The Magic Circular with Nevil Maskelyne. Hamley suggested the name The Magic Circular for the journal, even though it was seen by some to be, "somewhat humorous in character".
