Professeur Carmelli (1850-1919) was a magician at the Musée Grévin in Paris from 1915-1918.
Biography
Carmelli performed in France with a Black Art (Magie Noire) act for many years.
He left home as a boy to follow a circus and later became an acrobat. A magician in the circus befriended and taught him magic.
He met George Melies and collaborated with him in 1888 at the Theatre Robert-Houdin.
Carmelli later created his own traveling show called the Theatre-Salon Carmelli.[1]
