Jack Birnman (1920-1997), a salesman for a large glass company, was an amateur magician known for his original card magic and sleights.

Birnman became interested in magic at about age 12 when he got a Mysto Magic Set from a cousin. Soon after his family moved to Washington, D.C.

He was also devoted to composing checker problems. In 1975, he represented America in the World Championship Stroke Composition Checker Tournament and tied for first place.

He was a mentor to Aaron Fisher for many years.[1]

Richard Kaufman has stated in 2012 that he has a manuscript for a book of his magic and intends to publish it.[2]
